A. Reasons for the English colonization
The English colonization of the New World was motivated by the ambitions of the
European states and their eagerness to find, invade, and take advantage of the New World. After
decades of war with France and Spain, there was a lack of resources and riches in the European
economy. They wanted to venture out and see what could be found in Asia and the Middle East.
Trade with the Far East was vital to replenish the wealth of Europe. This is what led Christopher
Columbus’ initial voyage in 1492. (Norton, 2015)

, English Colonization and the Road to Revolution 3
The political motivations for European imperialism originated in the fifteenth century,

security, and social status are what lead countries to compete against each other. (Norton, 2015)

fight for food, clothing and other essential goods, Therefore the Englishman had to journey the
