MATHEMATICS 10
Topic: Special Sequences
Learning Objective:
At the end of this topic , students are able to:
1. Recognize simple patterns of various kinds of special sequences.
2. Know the importance of special sequences
SPECIAL SEQUENCES
SPECIAL SEQUENCE
- sequence that shows string of numbers, letters or formations that shows unique patterns
-important in differential equations and analysis.
-useful in a number of mathematical disciplines for studying functions, spaces, and other
mathematical structures
Types of Special Sequences:
1. ARITHMETIC SEQUENCE
2. GEOMETRIC SEQUENCE
3. TRIANGULAR NUMBER SEQUENCE
4. SQUARE NUMBER SEQUENCE
5. CUBE NUMBER SEQUENCE
6. FIBONACCI SEQUENCE
ARITHMETIC SEQUENCE
An Arithmetic Sequence is made by adding the same value each time.
Example 1:1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, ...
• This sequence has a difference of 3 between each number.
The pattern is continued by adding 3 to the last number each time, like this:
Example 2:
