ES438 Quality systems notes – Lecture 16 (Force field analysis)
Force Field Analysis - Method
1. Ensure everyone is clear about the proposed idea
2. Draw a line down the middle of the page.
3. Start with the right hand side by listing of all of the things that would hinder
the implementation of the idea.
4. Then, on the left hand side list all of the things that will help the
implementation, these can include both specific antidotes for the barriers
as well as current natural strengths of the situation which will help.
5. Use the finished diagram to help you to put an action plan together
Managing Change

• Do what’s doable (what can you stop doing?)
• Develop support networks, stay healthy
, • Go for improvement, make a start, small wins are valuable to begin with.
