Advanced Nursing Practice Leadership: Evidence-Based Practice Improvement
This paper identifies alarm fatigue as an issue to address within the nursing workplace.
Alarm fatigue happens if a person is subjected to a high frequency of regular alerts and gets
hypersensitive to it (Gaines, 2019). Hypersensitivity might result in prolonged reaction speed
s and the failure to detect critical alerts. According to Broome and Marshall (2020), nurses m
ake the best judgments concerning clinical outcomes by using the concepts of Evidence-Base
d Practice (EBP). Furthermore, whenever nurses incorporate the most recent scientific researc
h within the work settings, they take a comprehensive and client-focused strategy (Broome &
Marshall, 2020). In this essay, we shall discuss the desired results of the EBP, examine the sk
ills needed, anticipate barriers, evaluate the core guiding values, and evaluate the change tea
m’s success.
Desired Outcome of the EBP Improvement Initiative
Identifying the problem of alarm fatigue within a nursing setting is essential because i
t helps address critical concerns that affect both the patients and nurses. By focusing on prese
nt procedures, healthcare professionals may develop successful policies to ensure that clinicia
ns who have been regularly exposed to noises caused by alarm fatigue are properly supervisin
g clients and patients (Broome & Marshall, 2020). The desired outcome of this study aims to
provide more outstanding sustainable healthcare while improving patients' results, the workin
g environment, and our careers. Similarly, the desired results aim at eradicating alarm fatigue
by strengthening patient safety which necessitates structure-wide actions, like leadership guar
anteeing that explicit mechanisms for secure alarm handling are all in operation (Woo & Bac
on, 2020). Developing standards for sharing data regarding alert mechanism events or prevent
ative initiatives will also help achieve this outcome.
Examining the Skills Needed to Achieve this Outcome
