This multinational corporation, founded in 1994, has its main headquarters in Sunnyvale, California. Yahoo is one of the world’s largest Internet networks that provides services to hundreds of millions of users. Yahoo is very well known for its excellent search engine capabilities. Over the years, Yahoo has struggled with their professional standards from the top down. Most recently, in 2012, Yahoo had an embarrassing breakup with their CEO after it was revealed that he had falsified his educational accomplishments. Yahoo was losing market shares and customer base to its rivals such as Google. Yahoo executives realized that they must redefine the role of the CEO and be steadfast with their demand to have a new CEO that was credible and reliable. Enter Marissa Mayer. Mayer needed to work on helping to improve Yahoo’s global brand and to market it appropriately to areas that it’s services were best suited and promote them properly. Mayer needed to focus on ways that Yahoo could advertise that would bring in a return on its investment and identify new ways that the company could grow in the market. By focusing on how Yahoo could enjoy a stronger market presence, Mayer could help to bring a stronger, more identifiable presence for the company.
