It provides a brief history and explanation of the Uniform Crime Reporting system as well as the National Incident-Based Reporting System and considers the advantages and disadvantages of each system. This paper then provides examples of how crime reporting/recording systems are used on a local, state, and national level amongst law enforcement and government officials.
