HISTO WEEK 5 PROJECT WITH CORRECT ANSWERS
HIST410N – Contemporary World History Topic Selection: Malcolm X Annotated Bibliography Ambar, S. (2020). The Power of the Future: Prophetic Politics Between Political Crises and Civil Rights. Political Theory. 21(1-2), 142-150 This article discusses Malcolm X’s political life in regard to prophetic politics. It gives an explanation of black theology and how Malcolm X’s career fits into the subject. This is relevant to my topic because it is a thorough explanation of Malcolm’s political contributions to the Civil Rights movement and the ideologies that drove him. The author, Saladin Ambar is an Associate Professor of Political Science and a Senior Scholar at the Center on the American Governor at the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. This article has been peer- reviewed and is current, which makes it a scholarly source. The author concludes the article by discussing the prophetic voice of those who spoke during the Civil rights. I observed a comparison of many great leaders and theorists in this article regarding political styles. Curtis, E.E. (2015). “My Heart is in Cairo”: Malcolm X, the ARAB Cold War, and the Making of Islamic Liberation Ethics. Journal of american history. 102(3), 775- 798. For my topic selection, I chose to discuss the great Malcolm X, born Malcom Little but, also known as el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz and the aspects I would like to focus on are the events that lead to his participation in the Civil Rights movement, the contributions to the movement, and his controversial “by any means necessary” actions.
