Social Responsibility
When people hear the word Disney, one may light up with joy and excitement. One of the
world’s largest companies is Disney and it is not all about entertainment, amusement parks and
rides. Disney has many locations all over the world. They believe that social responsibility is
important and they provide many different organizations to support their effort when it comes to
raising funds and donating. According to waltdisneycompany.com, their commitment states, “We
believe social responsibility is a long-term investment that serves to strengthen our operations
and competitiveness in the marketplace, enhance risk management, attract and engage talented
employees, and maintain our reputation.” (p. 2).
Disney wants to make a social impact on people. They provide comfort, inspiration, and
opportunities to families and children. One is called the cash and in-kind contributions, the
commitment to community and collaborating with nonprofit organizations. This way there can be
positive change to communities all over the world. According to Walt Disney Company, in 2019,
Disney gave $338.2 million in cash and in-kind donations to these organizations. Families and
children around the world had comfort and opportunity with these benevolent donations from
Disney. Employees and cast members that work for Disney have been giving back for years. By
doing this the Disney matches financial donations to charitable organizations through Disney
Employee Matching Gifts, which is a program of The Walt Disney Company Foundation. Disney
matched $71 million since 2010 from employees donating their time and money into this. Over
