Unit I Essay
The important components dealing with business management are what can make or
break your business. Although most companies dive in not realizing what all is involved in a
proper housing or organizational chart, finance chart, HR documents and all that can go into a
business this is vital to the company surviving. We all like to think that when we hire an
employee their intentions are always good and innocent however I have seen firsthand that some
employees have other intentions that can devastate any small company. Unfortunately, these hits
close to home you see my husband once upon a time had a small communications company. He
was very successful with the application, front office, oversight and his integrity are impeccable I
am not just saying this because he is my husband he is really a very honest person! I love this
about him however it tends to get him into trouble. He is a nice man and I have told him time and
time again you have no friends in business trust no one, and make sure you are always covered
by a document to protect your assets. He used to think I was just way too strict when it came to
business. You see he partnered with another person, during this time I owned 50 percent of the
company and when it came down to it I was traveling working in Safety and was not able to help
in the front office. Part of his decision to partner up. Long story short I told him to have non-
competes in place prior to hiring additional employees ect. I also would only sell 49% of my 50
to his partner and 1 % to my husband therefore giving my husband 51% of the shares and his
partner 49% this gave him controlling interest of the company. I knew that his partners integrity
was not as high maintained as my Husbands from past experience and knowledge from other
companies. In the end Kevin did try to get all the employees to go with him to open a new
company or try to push David out just for pure selfish reasons of control and money. To this day
Kevin is not running a company and he works at a car dealership. This was a long battle in court,
