Information System
Information technology has swept in almost every sector of life. Therefore, the process
the world is gradually becoming a digital world. The digital age is demanding a competitive
level of knowledge and entrepreneurship. Therefore, the process of collection, organization,
and categorization of information has become important. This whole process is called the
information system. In this case, it is pertinent to study the components of the information
system. Likewise,
a successful entrepreneur needs to understand the business fundamental along with the
components of the information system. So, this essay will briefly discuss the components of
information systems, Porter’s five sources model, and types of hardware-software
technologies. Moreover, it will also compare and contrast the processes used for the
development of information systems.
Information system and Its Components
To start with, an information system has basically five components. These
components include computer hardware, computer software, data warehouses,
telecommunications and, and human resource (Gregersen, 2007). Firstly, the computer
hardware means the physical infrastructure needed to run the information system. It
involves supercomputers, smartphones, etc. Secondly, the computer software is the
program needed to run the computer hardware. For instance, it may include Windows, IOS,
etc. Thirdly, the data warehouses are the central repositories where a huge sum of data is
