The United Nations Human Rights Council is an important organization. The Human
Rights Council’s main goal is to promote and protect human rights all around the globe and
handle violations against one’s human rights and give recommendations on them (“Welcome to
the Human Rights Council”, 2020). The Human Rights Council was established in 2006. They
are also responsible for helping with peacekeeping in many countries, as well as their
involvement and authority in human rights situations. The Human Rights Council is, in my
opinions, one of the most influential aspects of the United Nations. It is so important that
everyone be able to have a voice when or if they ever needed to be heard. It is all too common
these days that people are having their rights violated or stripped from them, which is horrible.
One of the most important things that help the Human Rights Council protect those rights
is with the use of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This declaration was written in
1948 and is still used, along with two other covenants to for the International Bill of Human
Rights. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was drafted to protect all people by
specifically pointing out 30 rights and freedoms that belong to everyone and cannot be taken
away (“Universal Declaration of Human Rights”, 2019).
Another important aspect of the Human Rights Council is their advisory committee. This
committee is the idea group for the human rights council. According to Office of The United
Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (2020), the main focus of the committee is to
conduct studies and provide their research-based advice to the council. They also suggest things
that they would maybe want to research at a later date that would be in line with the promotion
