Unit V Essay
Team players can be considered as individuals who can actively contribute to their given
groups in relation to their roles to ensure that the team is capable of completing its tasks,
obligations, and goals. In the workplace environment, the same system applies. Employees must
be capable of working efficiently and effectively within a team environment. Hence, for each
role that an employee is awarded, he/she should be capable of fulfilling that role. Team players
are generally good in communication, problem-solving skills, collaboration, active listening and
can adjust to different settings in relation to their tasks (CMOE, 2019). Commitment and
flexibility are also significant requirements for team players. In any given team setting within the
workplace, the four primary team players are contributors, collaborators, communicators, and
challengers.
The first team player is the contributor. Contributors are mainly in charge of making
contributions to specific tasks within a team’s obligations. These are task-oriented individuals
who work together or with other team members through sharing information (Ngo, 2016). Their
main goal is to ensure that all project aspects are properly addressed. Hence, these are
individuals who tend to work behind the scenes as detail-oriented members of the team by
providing all data and technical information they acquire through research and other resources at
their disposal. An example of a contributor is Plato considering that he is the founder of the
school of thought and is best known for his contributions to philosophy, especially his views on
idealism. Collaborators are team members who mainly keep the project on track (Ngo, 2016).
They are goal-directed and are motivated by their winning mentality in keeping the team's vision,
mission, and goals on track. An example of a collaborator is Uncle Sam, a fictional historical
