Motivation
When choosing to be successful everyone wants it, but it is a choice that has to be made
for oneself. One must have self-discipline to be successful. At the beginning of my career, my set
goals that I thought I wanted was not true. I was one to go to work, do my job, clock out and just
get by. Now, my goals have become bigger and more challenging. I finally realized that I wasn’t
truly happy with my current situation and job status. So, by making goals I looked at the big
picture and the steps I needed to take to get there. I always liked the quote “Successful people
take the stairs, not the elevator”. One step at a time somedays one may take two steps back but
it’s a learning block as one may call it. That’s when I decided to go back to pursue my Bachelor’s
Degree in Business Administration and wanted to move up the career ladder. It has been found
that people who have an internal locus of control are generally more productive, driven, and
more welcoming than people who rely on external mechanism for motivation (Pignatelli, 2015).
It has had its struggles and frustration but one must remember at the end it will be all worth it.
One must always see the good in something than to focus on the bad. Focusing on the bad will
result in a domino effect of catastrophe.
My father and mother taught a strong work ethic into me and my brother, which is the
reason why I am a hard worker and want to be successful. My father always told me, “be all you
can be.” I reflect on that daily as a reminder and ask myself for that day was I the best I could be
or did I fall short on something. If one falls shorts it’s a great stepping stone to learn from and
