Importance of management information system
In today’s era, it is impossible to have full knowledge of everything that keeps changing
and evolving. As technology continues to change, it is essential to understand the importance,
components and key concepts of MIS known as management information systems (Kroenke &
Boyle, 2018). It is important to any business’s success and vital for company’s decision-making
process. Since, MIS can deliver a great number of benefits to the businesses. The narrative of
key differences between data, information, information technology (IT) and information systems
(IS) is described and explained in this assignment.
What is Information?
Information is the most common word that we use every day and has many different
meanings according different situations (Kroenke & Boyle, 2018). “When data are organized,
structured or presented in a given logical context to a receiver, they are called information”
(Kroenke & Boyle, 2018, p.13). The processed data must qualify for data characteristics for
the decision to be meaningful such as accurate, timely, completeness, relevant and worth its
cost. What is Data?
When you describe term Data “It includes the raw material, recorded facts and
figures can be processed by any computing machine” (Kroenke & Boyle, 2018, p. 13). There
