Citation and Notification of Penalties
Columbia Southern University
BOS 3525 Legal Aspects of Safety and Health
After noticing that our factory, Acme Widget, has scheduled an informal meeting with
the area director, we first had to prepare a summarized list of the core citations we hope to
address. Looking at previous results, Acme Widget Factory is seen to have a faultless record
of safety for an outstanding five years. We had no violations listed as repetitive, wilful,
failure to abate, or even serious before the inspection. The Compliance Officers will
cautiously evaluate the information accessible at the area office to gain data applicable to the
institution of the inspection scheduled. A casual conference has been planned with the area
director. It will include reducing costs for penalties, extension requests on dates for
abatement, and a speedy implementation fix on some of the listed citations. In presence will
be a group of individuals who represent the company. This group, other than myself, will
include the company’s CEO, safety manager, general manager, and union representative.
Citation 1 Item 4a-4b: Fit testing
After the conclusion of the inspection, the first citation was easily solved. The
solution entailed asking the employees to shave off their beards to maintain a tidy stature
before the re-issuance of fit testing. Other measures include:
a. Every employee was required to be shaven clean and tested again before the 24 hours
of inspection elapsed.
b. Every employee took an assessment test.
Citation 1 Item 5 - Employee Reserator Protection Program training
On the inspection’s conclusion, this was the second citation which was solved through
a quick fix.
a. Every employee who was affected received training and was updated in Reserator
