These authors examined the London bombing that happened in 2005. Their writing
described how to map out the best way to lessen mortality during terrorist attacks in
urban areas. According to the authors, the general way to reduce critical mortality
throughout and after a terrorist attack is to deploy a rapid advanced major incident
management. Also, over-triage should be avoided at all costs by allowing pre-hospital
teams to conduct initial scene triage. The surge capacities by the nearby hospitals can be
maintained through effective and efficient triage. The overall hospital management
should also have implemented a broad scope that damage control philosophy throughout
the hospital facilities. The investigations should be held back to a minimum, which there
should be a rapid transference of patients to definitive care.
