The problem I see from a technology standpoint is the ever-changing climate of online
shopping. If COVID taught retailers anything it is that people can order anything and have it
delivered to their door rather than go into a store. With so many retailers either closing or
transitioning to strictly online, it is important we evolve and expand our reach. To fix this
problem it will take creative thinking and an investment on our part. We must find a way to
create a platform of online shopping for our cyber client that emulates the retail shopping
experience. This includes the creation of our retail online website and app that will bring the
retail shopping experience into the customer’s home. To fix the effect COVID has had on our
retail stores we must look at how we can improve the customer experience to ensure every
customer feels safe when shopping in our stores.
When developing my argument for evolving from a brick-and-mortar retail company to
an online retailer we start by identifying why. The why is that we have seen an increase in online
retailers that offer a similar service at a cheaper price. One of our biggest competitors is XYZ.
They offer some of the same services we offer, and their prices are anywhere between ten to
fifteen percent cheaper than ours. While we offer the ultimate customer experience when
customers come into our retail stores, some customers want to order without the hassle of
coming into the store. My argument is for developing a retail website and app that offers the
same retail store experience online or through an app that the customer can use on their computer
or mobile device.
