Steps to take as soon as the Compliance Officer Leaves
Dear CEO of BKC Steel and Copper works,
After our company receives an OSHA citation, here are the following steps that need to
be taken into consideration;
Step 1: Post the Citation
It is important to post a copy of each OSHA citation near or at the place the compliance
officer has noted. Afterward, effective ways to correct the violation (s) must follow so that the
mess could be reduced by the time the officer makes a comeback. Posting the citation is a
requirement because affected areas and employed will devise quick and fast mechanisms to
overcome it.
Step 2: Make a proper follow-up by reviewing OSHA citations carefully
This step is essential to understand associated penalties while reviewing the citation.
Besides, it is important to understand that the compliance officer has just proposed penalties
which are not final yet. Therefore, some of the quick factors to consider in this step include;
The primary consideration of the gravity of the violation. For instance, the degree of
illness and injury caused by chemical exposure.
Understand the size of our business and OSHA’s penalty structure because the smaller it
is the higher the penalties (Grubbs & Nelson, 2007).
Document a well-written health and safety program to provide a healthful and safe
workplace both in areas that compliance officer has realized and those that are okay.
