Unit VI Reflection Paper
Promoting creative thinking within an organizations culture can be hard but not
inconceivable. Creativity management increases organizational creativity and enhances
innovation through management practices that integrate individual skill, leadership orientation,
and cultural symbolism. This allows continuous growth of creative action through the creativity
spiral. The development of an organization that breeds creativity starts with two main ideas. The
first is the manageable side of the organization, made up of the employees, rules and procedures.
The second is the interpersonal relationship side, these are the interactions and the three
elements we will discuss in this paper, professional, leadership, and culture.
All three of these of element are required to work together in order to create a culture of
creativity and innovation within your organization. The first element is professionals, these are
the employees or teammates that have the skills to generate the ideas. Their ideas lead to
innovation and the out of box thinking. These people are vital if the organizational wants to
promote creative thinking. When I first started working for Scope, the rush I would get when we
all got together to brainstorm ideas for changing the way we do things or the flexibility I was
given to create a training program that was more than just words. It gave me a reason to get up
and try harder and work longer. When employees are given the ability to be creative it brings
new ideas and process’ that benefit the organization for years. I used to preach that the
employees are the ones who make the trains run, without them you have leaders who have no
one to keep it on time and an organization out of business.
