1. Square Matrix: - if a matrix contains equal number of rows
and columns is called square matrix.
For Example: - 1 2
3 4 M*N = Order of matrix.


2. Rectangular matrix: - if a matrix doesn’t contain equal
number of rows and columns is called rectangular matrix.
For Example: -
1 2 3 M = Row
0 1 2 N = Column


3. Row matrix: - if a matrix contain only one row is called row
matrix.
For Example: -
1 2 3 , 1 2 , 5
4. Column matrix: - if a matrix contain only one column is
called column matrix.
For Example: -
0 1
1 , 2 , 5

5. Zero matrix: - If A matrix Who’s each Element is zero
regardless of its order is called zero matrix.
For Example: -
0 0 0 0 0
0 0 , 0 0 0 , 0


6. Diagonal matrix: - If a square matrix in which the entire
outside the main diagonal are zero
Or
If A square who’s each element is zero with at least one
Non-Zero diagonal element is called diagonal matrix.
For Example: -

0 4 0 , 0 0 0 , 0 3 , 0 0 0

7. Scalar matrix: - If a Diagonal matrix in which all elements are
equal is called scalar matrix.
For Example: -
