Cystic fibrosis is a chronic, progressive, inherited, incurable disease affecting exocrine (mucus-secreting) glands. Transmitted as an autosomal recessive trait affecting chromosome 7. The Characterized by major aberrations in sweat gland, respiratory, and pancreatic insufficiency with lungs being the primary organ affected. Causes of signs and symptoms to increase viscosity of bronchia, pancreatic, and mucous gland secretion.
