NCERT CBSE Science Part 1
Breathing is a part of respiration.
All organism are made up of small
microscopic units called cells.
Each cell performs functions such as
nutrition, transport, excretion and
reproduction.
A cell is the smallest structural and
functional unit of an organism.
To perform the functions (point 3), cells
need energy.
The food has stored energy which is
released during respiration.
All living organisms respire to get energy
from food.
During breathing we inhale oxygen and
release the carbon dioxide.
The air we breathe is transported to all
parts of the body and ultimately each cell.
In the cells, oxygen helps in the breakdown
of food.
