IOP 2605 ASSIGNMENT 1
Question 1 It is first important to define what a learning organisation and its attitude. A learning organisation has learning intertwined within the actions and activities the organisation does. It’s an attitude is inwards rather than externally and always look at itself and asking what needs to change that no longer serves us and has become a hinderance to progress. ‘(Senge the fifth discipline)turning the mirror inward’. They stay relevant and effective by updating the way that they think and do things. A mental model is an understanding that people behave the way that they do because of what they believe about something.A paradigm that filters out information to rationalize the things that it sees. So in order to change the individuals’ behaviors you need to change their core beliefs/mental models. Mental Models as a discipline for learning organisations looks at how the organisations can create healthy mental models that will lead to better congruency and productivity overall. There are a few things that need to be in place before to influence the mental models, namely: Commitment: The organisation needs to have loyal employees This study source was downloaded by from CourseH on :40:07 GMT -05:00 This study resource was shared via CourseH Leadership: The organisation then needs leaders who will facilitate a learning environment. Question 2 Horne and Moller seem to believe that there are a couple of conditions that need to be met in order for E-learning to be effective. These conditions are believed to encourage students and facilitate productive e-learning and otherwise without them would lead to a way lower quality of education as opposed to full time in-person learning. Institutional commitment: This means that the institution needs to commit resources towards the online learning platforms and the infrastructure to support learning. Without this there is no support for offline learning. Availability of technology: Technology is at the core of e-learning especially because e-learning is open-distance or semi-remote. The people who need access to the learning material need access to it in a way that is convenient and straightforward to keep the e-learning as seamless as possible. This means finding ways to present this material to many people in different places at different times to be used as and when needed. Service to e-learners: Understanding who is using these e-learning service is as vitally important because unlike full-time student the needs of the people who are using the e-learning platforms are different and demanding in other ways. This means making means to accommodate these kind of students to meet them where they are at by providing different ways of learning that would not require as This study source was downloaded by from CourseH on :40:07 GMT -05:00
