According to the presenter, what is needed achieve an environmen-
tally and politically sustainable planet? Please explain why.
Based on the presenter, In 1960, the world’s population was 3 billion in which
the industrialized world had 1 billion people who were healthy, rich, and had
a high child survival. Whereas, 2 billion people were in the developing world
suffering from poverty and had a low child survival. However, through time
since 1960 until 2010, there has been economic growth in the west. The most
successful developing countries moved on until they became the emerging econ-
omy of the world. Furthermore, by vaccination, education and family planning,
population growth started to decrease while increasing child survival. There-
fore, in 2050, if and only if we invest in the right green technology in which
we can avoid climate change, and the poorest people of the world get out of
poverty, get an education and get improved child survival, then the population
growth will stop in 2050 and the world can be environmentally and politically
sustainable.
