PSY 7864-one-way ANOVA assess 4.1 ANOVA 2 Introduction The purpose of this paper is to apply SPSS procedures to check assumptions and calculate the one-way ANOVA that generates the relevant output for the data set provided. This paper will provide the context of the data set and the relevant variables and scales of measurement. It will also, evaluate the assumptions of the one-way ANOVA. This paper will provide a research question, null hypothesis, alternative hypothesis, and alpha level for the data set. It will also, analyze the one-way ANOVA and provide the relevant data. This paper will conclude with a summary of the strengths and weaknesses of the one-way ANOVA. Section 1: Data File Description The data set has 21 variables and the sample size is 105, N=105. This paper will analyze two variables, section which is a nominal scaled variable and is the predictor variable (X), and quiz 3 which is a ratio scaled variable and is the outcome variable (Y). Quiz 3 is the dependent variable and section is the independent variable. Section 2: Testing Assumptions The histogram below shows that the data is skewed left and is what lowers the mean. The mean is 7.48 with a standard deviation of 2.034 and a sample size of N=105. The mode is 7 at the center of the distribution. This is not normal ANOVA 3 distribution as it is skewed left. The skewness is -.559 and is asymmetrical this is what defines the extent to which the distribution differs from normal distribution. The kurtosis of -1.68 and is the measure of tailedness. This kurtosis is less than 3 therefore, it is platykurtic. Which means the distribution produces less extreme outliers than a normal distribu
