1.1
The above definition is considered to have a behavioural emphasis because “one
aim of environment education is to enable individuals to make inform decisions about

, the environmental behaviour, this is particularly significant with environmental
problems that are believed to be both major and imminent, such as climate change
resulting from global warming.
1.2
Point 9 “relate environmental sensitivity, knowledge, problem-solving skills, and
values clarification to every age, but with special emphasis on environmental
sensitivity to the learners own community in early years;” This can promote
behavioural changes in bringing certain environmental topics appropriate for the right
age group. Create lessons as in water pollution, overfishing etc. And make children
aware of what humans are affecting environments in their community and how they
can bring up ideas in their community to reduce the factors that is affecting the
environment.
Point 11 “emphasize the complexity of environmental problems and thus the need to
develop critical thinking and problem solving”. This can promote behavioural change
when individuals know more about how they can harm the environment they can
take note of the damages caused by individuals towards the environment. They will
become more sensitive towards the environment and what harm individuals can
produce and how they can reduce it. Also, those who have knowledge about
environmental harm can educate those in their community to reduce the harm to the
environment. (Environmental Education Only Study Guide for EED2601, UNISA,
2021-2025, page 4).
2.
Anthropocene is used when the most recent period on Earth history when human
and man-made activity started to have a significant impact on the Earth’s
environment cause a change in the planet’s climate and ecosystems. The effects of
Anthropocene include such as biodiversity loss, introduction and the spread of alien
invasive species and species extinction; environmental degradation, deforestation,
and desertification; water, air, and land pollution; health hazards.
Five key global environmental issues and challenges that have emerged in this era:
 Pollution
There are different sections of pollution this can affect water, air, and land
therefore pollution affects in different ways. The atmosphere is the Earths
largest single share resources, protecting life through absorption of dangerous
ultraviolet solar radiation, warming the earth’s surface, and regulating
temperature. (Department of Environmental Affairs, 2012). Pollution is more
saturated in urban areas where it contains factories and therefore effects the
individuals that are in that environment with illnesses, such as asthma. Etc.
those who cannot afford electricity rely on wood and coal energy for heating
and cooking which then also plays a role in air pollution. (Environmental
Education Only Study Guide for EED2601, UNISA, 2021-2025, page 14-15).

 Water scarcity
