midterm exam, lasting 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Mr. C is 53 years old and newly diagnosed with Stage 2 hypertension. He was immediately
admitted to the progressive care unit after presenting to the ER with reported symptoms of
slurred speech, slight facial droop, and chest discomfort. In addition, he complains of a
headache, nausea, and generalized weakness. Mr. C denies any past medical history, never
smoked, but occasionally partakes in the consumption of alcoholic beverages and admits to poor
dietary habits, and slightly overweight, otherwise Mr. C states he’s a health guy and active.
Laboratory results reveal elevated cardiac enzymes, and lactic acid, slight hperglycemia.
