COMMUNICATION: SPEECH THERAPY
SPEECH THERAPY Speech therapists are always keen on making sure that the mechanisms they use on teaching are effective on the subject. The process of speech therapy focuses on teaching the correct sound production for people that are not able to produce sounds in the correct manner. The method of teaching that are used in cleft palate speech include; placement, manner and voicing. The sound systems are important when training speech therapy and once this is identified, it is easier for the speech therapist to identify the where the tongue touches the palates and through this, they are able to train individual the correct tongue placements. The manner helps in identifying if the sounds are stops or continuous and the voicing identifies if the sounds are voiced or voiceless. The therapist then identifies ways in which they can use to help the patient say the sounds. The most interesting method of teaching is the manner where the patient is prompted to stop once the therapist had identified the sound. I think this is useful because the patient can easily remember when to stop and this improves their sound more. The voicing is also effective as low tone and high tones seem to produce different sounds. Show Less
