Introduction
HR is of central and strategic significance to a project-oriented organization. Once a new
project commences, the project manager must be placed to give the right direction in which the
team to follow. In fact, the changes in the HR department or else its centralization means that the
previous configuration is also adjusted. With the kind of dynamic environment, different and
robust approaches are necessary for the project manager to coordinate, organize, and ultimately
realize the objections of the particular project. Working in a projected oriented organization
means that the project manager is able to utilize the available power to earn the support of the
team as well as address the potential impediments. In particular, this paper explores the types of
power that a project manager may use in leading people along with the possible outcome of such
a project. Ultimately, the paper analysed the challenge of leading a global team as well as the
overall communication plan that will be utilized in their specific project.
Project Manager Power
According to Turner (2014), project manager may possess a different type of power
which include legitimate, reward, punishment, expert, as well as the relational power. In this
case, the expert and reward power are the most relevant in relation to the expected changes in the
management resources. Expert power in project management is grounded in an individual having
a lot of knowledge and expertise in a given area. A project leader with such power is highly
intelligent and trust their power to complete their various organizational roles as well as
responsibilities. In the present case, the manager enjoys expert power if he possesses expertise in
the field of human resources and management of projects as well. This ability enables him or her
to command the power of reward in the right way.
