PHILOSOPHY: LOGICAL FATALISM

1. What are structured problems? Structured problems are the types of problems that are very straightforward that are normally determined and solved through repetition of examination and testing on t he problem. The problems are routine in nature and the organization are aware of them. For example, a structured problem in a company might be experienced when the internet is not functioning. Unstructured problem on the other hand are difficulties that an organization faces when unusual situation occurs in the same the ways of solving the problems are unique and different. For example, in a company, the administration might observe that most of their customers rarely come back. The managers have to start brainstorming on the reason why. In the first problem, when the internet is not functioning, the company will call its internet provider to fix the problem. In this case, the company already recognizes the problem due to repetition and testing of the problem and they will be able to fix the network issue. In the second scenario, the managers might have to hire a PR company to advise them on ways in which they can retain customers. 2. Explain the concept of fatalism Fatalism is the concept that events are already fixed and human beings have no power to change them. Basically, it is the concept of submitting to fate. The Arabs defines fatalism within the principle of quadar, whereby they argue that that Allah has knowledge of all that will happen as it is his will. Because of this belief the Arabs have always failed when it comes to planning because if relying on the will of God for things to happen. Development of important units such as health has slacked down in Arab countries because they believe that sickness is the will of God and health should also come from him. Instead of solving problems in rational way, they argue that It’s the will of God and this creates more damage than good. The concept has been misinterpreted because it is not always the will of God for some things to happen. Through science a lot of problem can be solved but the over reliance on religion creates bigger problem in the end. 3. What is strategic planning? Strategic plans outline goals that have a longer time frame like five to years, stating what will be done to achieve the goals by that time while operational plans outline goals that need to be attained in a short span of time, like one year. In regards to scope, strategic plans are very wide and this is because they entail inputs from all department in a company on how long-term goals can be achieved. On the hand, operational plan is narrow as it does involve the whole company for a goal to be achieved. Mostly the goals are set within a department and they are quicker to achieve. Show Less
