Annotated Bibliography on Women in the Workplace
Argument: There is a notion that advancements and achievements are determined by merit alone. This notion derives from misconception that we have a fair world and so efforts alone drives success. The authors argue that the emergence of few female leaders at the top is used to show that the system allows women to succeed. But this is not true as any conclusion must be based on general trend and comprehensive data. It is often that people quote the exception to hide the rule. The rule is ugly that women are underrepresented across most industries and sectors. The use of exceptions to highlight that some women are doing good harms the cause of women empowerment and workplace diversity. This paper shows no apology arguing for more female representation and justifies the need for the same.
