Exempt job and non-exempt jobs in FLSA
Exempt job is a role which is exempted from Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulation mandating compulsory pay for overtime work. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) defines any work over 40 hrs./week as overtime work (Suff, 2010). Exempt roles are generally in executive, professional and administrative category. Exempt roles are salary based and not billed hourly. The minimum salary per week should be at least 455 dollars for an exempt job.
