Django: Watching it Beyond the Lines
The movie Django is a story of an African slave, who luckily met Dr. Schultz, a
hunter who buys him and asked him to join in his conquest. As an exchange to the help
that he can give to Dr. Schaultz, he can get his freedom and in the same way, the
doctor can help him find his wife and also buy her freedom- a deal that Django can’t
refuse. That conquest which is full of adventurous trails marks the new Django who is
now brave and skillful enough to fight for the life’s great obstacles.
At first, I find the movie interesting because it tackles the history back when the
Whites abuses, tortures, rapes and murders slaves. It shows the reality on how the
whites discriminated the Blacks which really strikes the chord of viewers of every race,
creed and color. The best thing about showing this slavery is putting the interesting twist
wherein Django was able to take revenge to the Whites who maltreated people with the
same color as his.
Also, I was also touched in the time when Dr. Schultz asked Django to help him
in the conquest. It tells that there are still people who trust strangers despite of their
individual differences. This depicts that some people are still willing to help those that
are in need of their assistance. However, they didn’t know that aside from this
assistance, they help the people in their most needed thing- in boosting their self-
esteem.
Moreover, I find the movie intriguing when it comes on how Django can be able
to surpass the conquest despite of being an African which back in their time,
experiences slavery. In the latter part of the story, I was able to know the answer. The
discrimination and the racism serve as the inspiration of Django for him to be stronger
for the upcoming burdens on their way.
In addition, I find the story a little romantic because the main reason why Django
joins the conquest is to save his wife. It shows how he really love her even if they are
miles apart. Also, the notion of a black man willing to risk all to regain the wife who was
