Introduction
Rocks and minerals are both solid, naturally formed substances that
are found in or on the earth. They are both inorganic, meaning they are
not made from tissues of living things. Rocks are made of minerals,
and minerals are not made of rocks.

TYPES OF ROCKS
Igneous Rocks
Derived from the Latin word “ignis” meaning fire
Form from solidification of magma
Magma inside the volcano
Lava outside of the volcano
Extrusive rocks
Also known as volcanic rocks
Lava cools down
Fine grained or has lack of crystal growth
Vesicular or air bubbles that are trapped inside the rock
