About the Client
The client I am working with is BA. BA is a 20 years old male who is the oldest child in his
family. He has two other siblings, a younger brother and younger sister. He recently completed
his A Levels and is now looking to apply to universities for his undergraduate. He runs a small
business alongside and is also a freelancer. He belongs to an upper-middle class family.
A brief history of his life begins from being born in Pakistan and moving to Dubai 3 months after
his birth. His mother-tongue is English. Though all other family members were well versed in
Urdu and English both, he did not learn Urdu until grade 2. After 3 years of living in Dubai he
moved to Malaysia and after spending another 2 years there he moved back to Pakistan.
As a child he remembers being bullied by the foreigners in his school. He was very thin and had
a small physique which is why the bullies felt even stronger against him. His father worked in a
multi-national company hence had to travel a lot. He would not be around for months sometimes.
This bothered BA a lot as he grew older. He felt he did not receive the physical affection that a
father should express on his son. He also felt he could never be understood by his father and
could never be friends with him either. His father was strict.
After moving to Pakistan the greatest challenge he faced was of learning Urdu. He would speak
in English with his family members and at school but with friends, relatives and strangers he had
a very hard time communicating. He was often laughed at for his weak Urdu language and the
mistakes he made in his speech and writing. As a result he became very quiet. If someone did
address him, he was very shy to respond and experienced social anxiety as well. This is also
when he gained a lot of weight. He was laughed at again which lead him to feeling a great deal
of hatred towards himself.
