P1 Explain the role and skills required to be an effective event organiser .
1. Briefly define ‘event’ and ‘event organiser’
2. You need one paragraph on each role required from a chosen event organiser, including:
● venue, (eg. What kind of building, space required, facilities needed for bar/food/movies etc)
● location, (does it need to be easy to get to, cheap location, city or rural)
● catering, (talk about food standards agency, what kind of catering required, meals, drinks, snacks)
● planning and reserving facilities, (research a list of all facilities that might be needed)
● setting up programme, (this is the timings of the event and how this is organised)
● preparing and distributing documents, (eg contracts, invitations, reviews)
● contracts.
● Investigating current legal requirements, including consumer protection. (add detail on these laws)
● Setting up organisational procedures, e.g. risk assessment and security. (health and safety act 1974)
3. You need one paragraph on each skill required, and why an event organiser would need these
including:
● Organisational.
• Problem solving.
• Time management.
• Negotiation.
• Communication.
• Interpersonal.
P2 Investigate own skills in the form of a skills audit.
1. Explain the common formats for skills auditing, roughly paragraph each to include
● Likert scale.
● Semantic differential scale.
● Observation.
● Questionnaire.
● Appraisal.
