• Definition:
– Inflammation of the appendix
– Commonest abdominal surgical emergency
• Clinical Findings:
– Abdominal Pain (RIF)
– GI Upset (anorexia, nausea & vomiting)
– Fever (37-38ᵒC)
, Signs and Symptoms
• Starts with abdominal discomfort
• Followed by nausea, anorexia, or vomiting
• Pain shifts to the right iliac fossa, becoming
localized causing discomfort on moving,
walking, or coughing (localised to McBurneys
