My burger lab is a burger shop where founded by a Malaysian called Wee Kiat Teoh, this
burger shop is hugely inspired by some famous burger shop all around the world for
example Shake-Shank and In-N-Out from US, Grill’d from Australia and GBK from the United
Kingdom according to Mr Wee Kiat Teoh. This shop first opened on 10 th of July at 2012 at Sea
Park, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. They expanded their business on 22th October by opening
another shop in OUG, Kuala Lumpur. During their first and second anniversary, they had a
food donation drive at their outlet where the customer can get a chesse burger for free by
donating food because this could increase their fame while doing charity at the same time.
His intention of creating this restaurant is because he feels that Malaysian needs our own
version of burger shop therefore their objectives for the shop is very simple which is
providing really good and juicy burgers with no shortcuts for the customers. Mr Wee Kiat
Teoh, the founder of My Burger Lab believe that customer is their best salesman because if
you treat the customer right with delicious food and good service, the customer will
promote for you once they stepped out of the door. He wants the customer to know that
their willing to spends all their money on ingredient and machinery in order maintain their
quality of foods rather than spending all moneys to buy fancy décor or advertisement on
social media or television like other fast foods.
According to the official website of My Burger Lab, their charcoal bun which specially
design for their burgers is freshly baked from scratch from their own bakery because they
believe that this is the only way for their customer to get the perfect combination of crispy
crust and melt-in-your-mouth, fresh from oven taste. Beside that for their beef patties, they
grind their own patties and hand-packed them daily in order to let the patties to maintain it
freshness and juiciness. According to the interview from the Wee Kiat Teoh, their meat is still
in perfect pink before they putted in on the griddle which means the meat is fresh.

My Burger Lab wished to expand their business map to Singapore because the main
reason is Singapore is the neighbouring country right next to Malaysia. In the recent years,
there were news stating that Singapore’s listed under one of the World’s best place to savour
varieties of delicacies and delights. Singapore too is filled with many F&B franchises &
outlets such as McDonalds, FatBoy, and Burger Joint.
The population of Singapore is 5,638,700 at 2018, even it is ranked 113 th in the world but
their capita per person is 98,104 USD which ranked 3 rd in the world, therefore this made the
purchasing power of Singaporean very strong.
According to their market survey, most of the Singaporean preferred Fish and Chicken
therefore My Burger Lab decided to create a whole new menu that included Chicken burger
to cater Singapore market. My Burger Lab decided to open their first shop in Singapore in
Paragon Shopping Centre. As it is one of the most popular shopping-centre in Singapore
because they can increase their popularity due to this shopping centre had awarded tatler
best of Singapore guide and the most glamorous shopping centre by IS Magazine. My Burger
Lab had considered a few countries but after all they picked Singapore is because it is the
main financial hub of Asia therefore not only Singaporean will be familiar to them but also
includes foreigner because most of the big companies all around the world does set up
theirs headquarter for Asian region in Singapore.
After all, I think we, My Burger Lab, had made a wise decision of expanding their business
to Singapore because it has the advantages of being near which leads to little amount of cost
on logistics and also easier as its just nearby. These could increase the exposure of our
company due the popularity of Singapore all over the world.
