interview information provided in the patient scenario to do the following within your reflection:

▪ List 5 open-ended questions you would ask using descriptive language familiar to the
patient during the HPI exam relevant to the chief complaint, including all pertinent
and positive negatives. Provide a rationale for each question you ask by explaining
why it is appropriate and how it aligns to thechief complaint.

1. Please tell me more about the past flare-up of your eczema. How often were theflare-ups
and when was the last one?

Rationale: Frequency and severity of eczema flare-ups is important to determinethe level
of treatment for current flare-up

2. What were the treatment that worked in the past?

Rationale: It is important to know what medication was prescribed and
worked/not worked in the past in order to determine effective treatment

3. How was your right knee since the scope on 2009 as far as pain, range of motion,
occasional swelling, locking sound of the affected knee, or degree ofmovements?
Rationale: Right knee injury could have been chronical meniscus damage thatwas
aggravated by a force of trauma. Click noise at the knee joint, sense of locking during
bending and squatting, or pain and/or swelling after working outare all good
indications of acute trauma on chronic damage.
4. What hurts the most in your right knee?

Rationale: Degree of range of motion can determine if the injury is serious that
requires specialist consult, or if it is something that can be treated with resting, icing,
wrapping, and bracing

5. Do you have any other muscle or joint pain, such as back, ankle, or hip?

Rationale: Knee injuries are often directed by compensation of posture related to other
musculoskeletal injury or weakness, and these other musculoskeletal parts can be
corrected and strengthened with physical therapy to prevent further injury to other parts
of the body
