CS2203 Journal 7
Your learning journal entry must be a reflective statement that considers the following questions:
1. Describe what you did. This does not mean that you copy and paste from what you have
posted
or the assignments you have prepared. You need to describe what you did and how you did it.
What I did this week: This week we covered reading on chapter seven ‘querying the database
using SQL’ and completed some tasks for discussion forum about SQL statement using LIKE
and IN operators and programming assignment on querying the Library system table.
How did I do it? I started this week by reading through the reading assignment chapters and
completing the video tutorials. I went ahead to complete the forum task using the open office to
create a table and query the table using the necessary statement and operators. The written
assignment was also completed using similar software and following the necessary steps and
instructions.
2. Describe your reactions to what you did.
My reactions towards what was done this week was a good one and encouraging. I pretty much
started earlier with the reading and tried to complete all given task as early as possible.
3. Describe any feedback you received or any specific interactions you had. Discuss how they
were helpful.
Feedbacks received: I received encouraging feedback from my peers and had an interaction as
well in regards to the issue I had.
How helpful was the feedback and interaction? The feedback was a positive one and the
suggestion made was also helpful and reminds me of what must be done. I clearly get how to get
around the issue I encountered seeing that everyone has similar issue.
4. Describe your feelings and attitudes.
My feelings towards the study thus far is encouraging and as the day goes by I feel more
confidence about the course.
5. Describe what you learned.
What I learned for this week is mainly the use of the querying statements to query the database
system. There are several elements and operators needed when it comes to querying the database
system and they all are very helpful and important at this stage. I like the way the use of LIKE
and IN are implemented and it is very much straight and clear.
