I would say that this text introduction is using the general backround style as he is giving us a backround of himself and what he’s writing it’s not historical information. He speaks of how long he has been writing, the topic he has chosen to write about and the outcome of his research done on the years of writing on the same topic. The lead in of his introduction is interesting as it captures the reader’s attention, you want to continue reading to see what the author has to say. He gives us a brief break down of what his story is going to entail and grabs our attention by making this captivating. I would say his main statement would be “Here are a few things I have learned” this statement tells us that he is going to explain to us what he has learned about survival through his years of research.
