Jesus grew up in Nazareth in the province of Galilee, which was ruled by the
Romans. He went on to travel through Palestine, preaching and teaching,
with a group of followers known as the twelve apostles.
After coming into conflict with different groups, he was sentenced to death
and was crucified.
