The Effects of Bullying
Proposed Topic
The proposed topic for this paper would be the effects from bullying on children at a
young age regardless if it is inside of a building going to school or doing school online across the
whole world. There has always been an issue regarding bulling in schools and it usually does not
just stop in elementary schools. Bullying starts at the elementary stage of school and can go to or
past high schooled children. The big issue when it comes to bulling is that throughout the years,
it has progressed and keeps progressing that it is more than insulting one another or shoving one
another around.

One thing that does not make anything better especially in the generation today, is social

media platforms which has become a target for bulling other children. Since all of these

platforms are available and more children reach out to things like this, it has made the person

being bullied feel more like they are trapped and cannot get away from it. Before social media

was a big hit bulling mostly happened at school meaning when school was over, and they could

put it aside until the next day but since social media has became more popular bullying tends to
come home with the child. Social media has made it where videos can be posted, and gossip

spreads really fast no matter if it is true or false information. No matter what kind of bulling it is

or how little it goes on, bullying has major effects on the child/ victim for a period of time and

sometimes the trauma of it will follow them throughout their lives. There are so many reasons

why children get bullied and what the bully does not realize is how this effects that person not
only physically with the abuse that happens but also their mental state as well.

Getting bullied at a young age causes some psychological problems, long and short term,
such as anxiety, sleep issues, being withdrawn from others, feeling a state of worthlessness, and
even suicide (National Academies Press, 2016). Longer periods of bullying could have a greater
