The world around us is changing all the time, and those changes are revolutionizing the way
we work and the careers we pursue.
This week, think about how one innovation has affected you at home, work, or school. Explain
how that innovation has altered the way you complete daily tasks, and how the innovation has,
itself, changed over time.

Innovation is constantly changing these days. I remember being amazed by the first cell phones
that came out or the use of tablets at work. Or when the Internet was new and it took ten
minutes to connect using a phone line. Nowadays these things are taken for granted by those
that never had to live without them. The progression in technology has made a big difference in
how I do my job. In the past, whereas lab results would take days to come back, it now takes a
couple of hours or a day. Which is a lot less stressful for patients.
With the current pandemic and all of our worldly issues these past few months, the Internet has
helped me work remotely from home doing video calls with patients and communicating with
providers to get them the correct treatment. Although it’s been a challenge for some of the
older patients that don't know what a tablet/smartphone is or how to use it.

now. How do you envision developing your technology skill in your academic, professional, or home life?

school. I have actually become pretty good at some applications like creating a PowerPoint and learning

more about using Word since starting school. If I ever have difficulty with a program or understanding
how a program works, I always go to Google for answers.

To improve my technology skills, I will continue using Google since it has helped me so much over the
years. I can also watch online tutorials, read articles or magazines, and practice using different software.
One program I definitely need to take some time and learn more about is Excel. I do fine with the basics,

but if I were asked to help with payroll at work, I'd be in trouble. Keeping up with new technology trends
opens yourself to new possibilities. It can also expand your career.
