INTRODUCTION TO MY PORTFOLIO My name is HLAMALANI MACHETE, I speak Xitsonga language which is my mother tongue. I follow Tsonga culture since it is my culture and it is very important to me, my expectation regarding my culture is to grow me into a better person with a great heart and also with the practices of ubuntu such as, helping others and also understanding them and their cultures. 1. FIRST PORTFOLIO ACTIVITY: PERSONAL LANGUAGE STORY TASK: 1 I grew up in Limpopo-Giyani, this is where I was raised in a Tsonga speaking family. Relatives and people from Giyani they speak Xitsonga. My parents only spoke Xitsonga because of their culture is Xitsonga and it was the only language they knew, therefore at home I only spoke Xitsonga. I spoke, read and wrote English language which I learned in school because it was the medium of communication. But it would end there at school and at home I reverted back to my home language Xitsonga
