Form of address refers to the way we address a person, either orally or in writing taking into consideration that the person has a particular status or rank (MerriamWebster, n.d.). 1.2 Observation At nine am on the morning of Wednesday the 2nd of June, I went to Clearwater Mall, situated in the West of Johannesburg to observe how colleagues, friends and family greet each other. The atmosphere in the shopping centre was relaxed and friendly.
