It is hard for a child to imagine the consequences it will face when he or she is forced
at young age to make an important choice such as, a High school level to continue
their education. At this moment Dutch children are obligated to choose the level of
their High school education level based on their cognitive capacities, somewhere
between 12 and 13 years. However, considering the massive importance of
education for future opportunities, one certainly does not want to make the wrong
choice at that point. So, by changing that age to a more older age, for instance 15
years, would result in far more balanced, wiser and successful decisions by these
children and their parents. This is only one of the benefits to be in favor of letting
them choose at an older age.
