Studying the Old Testament Narratives Passage: Numbers 21:4-9 (ASSUERED A) 100% CORRECT GRADED A+ | LATEST SOLUTIONS | Instructions: For this assignment, you will be studying the Old Testament story of The Bronze Serpent found in Numbers 21:4-9. You will use the template below in order to complete a study of this passage. In your study, you will use the skills of Observation, Interpretation, Correlation, and Application that you have become familiar with through your reading in Everyday Bible Study. I. Observation A. I have read Numbers 21:4-9 in both a formal translation (KJV, NKJV, NASB, ESV, or CSB) and a functional translation (NIV, NLT, or NCV). Highlight the correct answer. You will find a copy of the NASB, ESV, CSB, and NLT in your myWSB Library. • Yes • No • Having read the passage in both formal and functional translation, list at least 2 similarities and 3 differences between the way both translations cover this story. You may list as many similarities and differences that you find as long as you meet the minimum amount. Similarities Differences The way the people came to Moses to apologize to talking down on him and the Lord and asking him to pray for them is the same in the KJV and NLT. Description of the bread. KJV: "and our soul loatheth this light bread." NLT: "and we hate this horrible manna!" Verse 5: In the KJV and NLT version, the people of Israel questioned God and Moses on why they were brought to Egypt to die. KJV: "that everyone is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live." This study source was downloaded by from CourseH on :40:56 GMT -05:00 This study resource was shared via CourseH NLT: "All who are bitten will live if they simply look at it!" Both have the same descriptions. KJV: "And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died." NLT: "So the Lord sent poisonous snakes among the people, and many were bitten and died. KJV: "that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived." NLT: "Then anyone who was bitten by the snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed!" In the KJV quote one could take the wording as anyone who held the serpent would live whereas the NLT says they must look at the bronze snake. Identify the basic elements of the story you are studying 1. Main characters: (List them) People of Israel, God, and Moses. 2. Plot: (50-100 words) The people of Israel travel from Mount Hor to the Red Sea but become impatient and tired of the journey. They begin to speak against God and Moses.
