Exam (elaborations) PHI 413V TOPIC 3 ASSIGNMENT Case Study on Biomedical Ethics in the Christian Narrative Applying the Four Principles-Copy
This assignment will incorporate a common practical tool in helping clinicians begin to ethically analyze a case. Organizing the_ data in this way will help you apply the_ four principles of principlism. Based on the_ "Case Study: Healing & Autonomy" & othe_r required topic study materials, you will complete the_ "Applying the_ Four Principles: Case Study" document that includes the_ following: Part 1: Chart This chart will formalize principlism & the_ four-boxes approach by organizing the_ data from the_ case study according to the_ relevant principles of biomedical ethics: autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, & justice. Part 2: Evaluation This part includes questions, to be answered in a total of 500 words, that describe how principalism would be applied according to the_ Christian worldview. The_re are many pressing issues associated with this case study under the_ Christian narrative, & it's important to recognize that the_re are various versions of the_ Christian faith with each different denomination interpreting Christianity in a different interpretation. Baptists are different than Protestants, Catholics have different variations than Presbyterians, etc. The_refore, some denominations would emphasize the_ fact that God places medicine & doctors were placed on earth to provide healing for people through God's guidance. This would mean that it is okay to receive care for serious illnesses to prevent deaths or serious injury because the_ doctors are working on behalf of God. In contrast, Jehovah's Witnesses disavow blood transfusions & othe_r vital treatments that could save lives because of the_ir "Christian" beliefs, which is why (you) simply can't place a blanket narrative over the_ different Christian faiths. Neverthe_less, some of the_ Christian issues on display are the_ moral & ethical issues associated with determining to forgo treatment based upon beliefs alone, which resulted in an innocent child being placed in danger & potentially receiving a death sentence because the_ parents refused treatment. Anothe_r important issue that is raised in an ethical dilemma associated with taking the_ kidney from one child to give to anothe_r. Because the_ child is not old enough to consent to his kidney being given to his brothe_r to allow him to survive, it causes serious ethical concerns & could even be against Case study: healing & autonomy Mike & Joanne need to make a very important decision on son James & its care. The_y want to confirm that the_ir son is being taken care of, but want to walk along the_ path of God. Mike posted James' treatment & decided to wait & believe in God. When the_y were waiting for treatment, James' condition was getting worse so the_y let James go through dialysis without being asked. Mike is struggling to find out if God is trying his faith or whethe_r God is punishing him. He needs to underst& it & make sure he does the_ right thing for his son James. Some of the_ problems that arise in all the_se processes are principles of sincerity. The_ doctor has the_ right to provide all the_ options to parents & explain the_ risks & benefits. If he does not do this, he informs this in violation of his duty as a doctor. This may be the_ right choice for the_m, but in the_ end it will hurt James & hurt him more.
