,CONSERVATION LAWS APPLICATIONS – Integral form of the energy eqt
Remember the obtained integral form of the energy equation:
It may be applied to any steady, uniform flow with one entrance and
one exit. The control volume is usually selected such that the entrance
and exit sections have a uniform total head. For example, it may be
applied to water flow through a long pipeline; the total head at the
entrance and exit may then be evaluated conveniently at the center of
the pipe entrance and exit. Remember that he negative sign of the left
hand side term results because we follow the convention that work
done on the control volume is negative.
Remember also the definition of the mass flux (rVA, V the average velocity across the
section) and of all the other terms in the equation. Find the analogy/difference with
the Bernouilli’s law.
